30 Days of Gratitude: With a Teacher's Heart (Day 5)

To say that I enjoy working with young people is an understatement. I've previously written about my passion for my career, so you know that I love what I do every day. But more importantly, I enjoy the opportunity to positively mentor the youth of our society.
With a Teacher's Heart (Day 5)
I am so proud of my students. All of them. Because despite what the naysayers believe, every student has a strength. It may not be in my class, but he/she may be good at mathematics, or helping others, or art, or any number of things. I firmly believe every child has something they excel at, and I try really hard to plan lessons that play to their strengths.
I am grateful for my students. Because even though I am the educator, I always learn something from them. They surprise me with their wisdom, their insight, their personality, and their kindness. They show me that life isn't always perfect, but you adapt to your circumstances.
I am grateful for their constant energy (even on days when it feels like they have a hard time channeling it). I may be having a bad day at home, or may be worried about paying my bills, or upset about any number of things in my sometimes chaotic life, but they never fail to make me smile in some way. And most days, that's all I need to leave my worries behind. I can show up at work stressed beyond belief, and by the end of the day, they have cheered me up by getting excited about a lesson, or asking me about my weekend, or sharing a story about their new pet.
After all, my students are people too. Which people in your life are you most grateful for?
